The Searchers Annual Gem and
Mineral Show
takes place early on a weekend in May
SAT May 7th, 2005: 10AM- 5PM
SUN May 8th, 2005: 10AM-4:30PM)
at the:
Brookhurst Community Center
2271 W. Crescent Avenue
Anaheim, California
(one block west of corner of Brookhurst and Crescent)

The Searcher's Show is absolutely FREE to
visitors:
free parking, free exhibits, free demonstrations, free drawings
and more!
No parking fees, no entry fees, no fees, period!
Just come and enjoy the show and if you want, purchase
a fabulous turquoise stone, opal ring or bracelet or maybe some
fire agate rough from one of our 12 outstanding dealers!

free wire-wrapping lessons nearly every Saturday
at the club workshop--come and learn to make rings,
bracelets, and pendants that make beautiful jewelry
and a very personalized gift!

SILENT AUCTIONS
Wonderful minerals, fossils and
gemstones!
Silent auctions are held every hour or so, all through the weekend!
Simply write down your name, your high bid,
and you might be surprised!
A few examples of auction items from last year include:
*several fabulous sapphire cabochons
*a classic copper tree specimen from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
*chunks of rare agates and obsidian
*miscellaneous jewelery items, etc... and much more
PANNING FOR
GOLD !
Learn
how to pan for gold under the supervision of experienced members of the
Gold Prospectors
Association of America (GPAA).
Pan out a bag of gold-bearing paydirt and keep your haul ($5 - fair value),
or just experiment with panning lead
(good practice, but it's just not "paydirt!!")
FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!
CHILDREN'S
JEWELRY MAKING
Children
choose polished stones and findings and, with the assistance of Searcher
members, assemble their own necklaces, bracelets, rings, bolo ties or pet
critters to take home with them. Free tickets are distributed at the Hospitality
Table at the entrance.
ROCK 'N' KIDS
!
Special rockhound activities just for kids!
GRAB BAG
GIFTS
Carefully
packed grab bags ($0.50 each) delight the kids with all manner of mineral
treasures. At the same table, pick up back issues of magazines such as Lapidary
Journal, Rock and Gem, etc....
HOURLY
DOOR-PRIZE DRAWINGS
Pick up your complimentary ticket at the Hospitality Table when you enter the show, and listen for the loudspeaker announcement of the drawings each hour. Prizes have been generously donated by local businesses and individuals; please visit them and thank them for their generous support!
